Team restrictions

When building a team of demons, certain restrictions are in place.

These restrictions are generally only in place within a single team. In quests that allow bringing 2 teams, such as Aura Gate or leveling quests, team restrictions are handled for each team separately.

• The Devil Connector is considered an extension of the party, so the restrictions apply to a 4-demon team and 3-demon connector as a single group of 7 demons.
• In Democalypse, a 3-demon prelim team and 3-demon boss team are considered a single group of 6 demons.

Basics

A team consists of 1 to 4 demons, plus a Liberator.

The Liberator's abilities (stat boosts, among other effects) are applied to the demons in the team.

• In PvP defense, only the Liberator's stat boosts are applied - any other abilities of the assigned Liberator will not take effect.

Each turn, any Liberator other than the assigned one may randomly cast their Assist skill, if it has been unlocked.

Alter-World

In Alter-World and its related quests, the main character must always be present in the team, and up to 3 demons may be brought.

Liberators other than the main character cannot be brought into Alter-World style quests. All Liberator abilities (including Assist) are also disabled here.

No Duplicates

It is not possible to have multiple copies of the same demon in a team.

This still applies even if the copies have differences, such as Archetype or skill build.

Demon Variants

Disallowed together

Certain demons cannot be in the same team as their variants:

• Masakado and Masakado A
• Alice and Alice A
• Lilith and Lilith A
• Beelzebub, Beelzebub☆, and Beelzebub (Human)
• Bayonetta and Bayonetta☆
• Jeanne and Jeanne☆
• Dante and Dante☆
• Nero and Nero☆
• V and V☆
• Guts and Berserker Guts
• Griffith and Femto
• Ose and Ose Hallel (currently allowed due to a bug)
• Flauros and Flauros Hallel (currently allowed due to a bug)
• Malice demons and their originals:
  • Metatron M and Metatron
  • Michael M and Michael
  • Shiva M and Shiva
  • Asura Lord M and Asura Lord

Allowed together

However, the following variants are allowed to be on the same team as each other:

• Pixie, Party Pixie, and Pixie A.
• Masakado B and any other Masakado
• Jack Frost, Helper Frost, and Party Frost
• Pyro Jack and Halloween Jack
• Dimensionals and their originals (Note: Dimensionals are always described as such in their lore descriptions and on banners)
  • Hathor A and Hathor
  • Moloch A and Moloch
  • Baphomet A and Baphomet
  • Sukuna-Hikona A and Sukuna-Hikona
  • Kali A and Kali
  • Tiamat A and Tiamat
