Icon Gloom.png Gloom (sometimes called "Depress" in-game) is a special status effect.

Icon Gloom.png Super Gloom is a stronger form of this status effect. Any effect about a demon being in a state of Gloom works the same if the demon is in a state of Super Gloom.

Mechanics

A demon afflicted by Icon Gloom.png Gloom will have the following effects applied to them:

  • -20% physical hit rate
  • -20% physical evasion rate
  • -20% critical rate
  • -20% chance to inflict status ailments
  • +20% chance to receive a critical attack
  • +20% chance to become afflicted by a status ailment

A demon affected by Icon Gloom.png Super Gloom will receive similar effects, albeit at 25% instead of 20%.

Gloom cannot be removed by skills that would remove status ailments, such as Prayer, or prevented by skills that would prevent ailments, such as Icon Barrier.png Barrier.

Gloom cannot be removed by skills that would remove Good Status Effects either, such as Silent Prayer.

Interaction with Zenith

Icon Gloom.png Gloom and its opposite Icon Zenith.png Zenith are respectively the negative and positive version of a unique status providing a set increase or decrease to the affected demon's chances to land and receive physical attacks, critical attacks and status ailments.

Similarly to buffs, the state of Zenith and the state of Gloom exist on the same scale, and by extension it's impossible for a demon to be in both states at the same time. Instead, gaining a level of Gloom or Zenith will cancel a level of the other if it is already applied.

There are 5 levels to the state of Zenith/Gloom that can be applied to a demon:

State Effect Level
Icon Zenith.png Super Zenith 25% 2
Icon Zenith.png Zenith 20% 1
Neutral 0% 0
Icon Gloom.png Gloom 20% -1
Icon Gloom.png Super Gloom 25% -2

Incrementing/decrementing state

  • Being placed in a state of Icon Zenith.png Super Zenith will increase the state by 2 levels.
  • Being placed in a state of Icon Zenith.png Zenith will increase the state by 1 level, but cannot increase the state into the Icon Zenith.png Super Zenith level.
  • Being placed in a state of Icon Gloom.png Gloom will decrease the state by 1 level, but cannot decrease the state into the Icon Gloom.png Super Gloom level.
  • Being placed in a state of Icon Gloom.png Super Gloom will decrease the state by 2 levels.

Duration Ticks

The turn duration for this effect will tick down at the start of a turn belonging to the team that originally cast it.

  • For example, if your team set up Gloom on the enemy team, then Gloom's duration will tick down at the start of your next turn.
