The Press Turn system is the combat system in Dx2.

Mechanics

At the start of every Player Turn, the player's team starts with Press Turn icons equal to the amount of living party members.

Most actions (using an item, demon casting a skill, etc) will consume one Press Turn icon. However, certain actions will only consume the first half of the Press Turn icon:

  • Passing a demon's turn.
  • Hitting an enemy's weak point.
  • Landing a critical hit with a physical attack.
  • Casting a skill that has Remnants.
  • Using an item while the current Dx2 is Templar.png Templar Dragon (due to her skill "Speed Loader").

The second half of a Press Turn is called a Bonus Turn. During a Bonus Turn, any action will consume the remainder of the Press Turn icon.

Conversely, certain unfavorable actions will consume 2 Press Turn icons instead of 1:

  • Hitting an enemy's Null/Repel/Drain and failing to pierce through it (including Icon Repel Physical.png Repel Physical and Icon Repel Magic.png Repel Magic buffs).
  • Missing an enemy with a physical attack.

Certain skills may adjust the above rules, such as: gaining additional Press Turns, making an opponent lose Press Turns, preventing the spending of Press Turns, and preventing the opponent from entering Bonus Turns.

If a Press Turn is gained, the new press turn is added to the far right of the current stock of Press Turns.

  • At maximum, a team can make use of 8 Press Turns before the team's turn ends. Once this limit has been reached, further skill effects will fail to grant any more Press Turns.
