Losing MP is when the number of MP a demon currently has is forcefully reduced without being used.
Mechanics
Through certain effects, demons can lose MP at moments other than by using them to activate their skills. Effects that make demons lose MP will deplete a set amount - unlike HP, there is no formula to calculate the amount of MP restored.
It is impossible for a demon to get below 0 MP, so if an effect is supposed to make a demon lose more MP than it currently has in reserve, it will just bring it to 0 MP.
Losing MP is always the secondary effect of a skill, which means that if the primary effect doesn't work, the MP loss won't take place. This will happen when a skill that causes MP reduction misses, is nullified, drained or repelled (by the same logic it can never be countered when it is the secondary effect of Fractional Damage, like with Black Rider's Famine).
The effects to Steal MP are rooted in MP loss, but also includes the ability to Recover MP, and thus will not be discussed in this page.

---|---|---|
Adramelech | Panel 4 | Activates the following Chain Effect upon the activation of the Fractional damage effect of Sun God's Majesty: Decreases the Fire Attribute Affinity of all enemies by 1 level (1 turn) and Inflicts 10% fractional damage (500 max) on all enemies based on their current HP and reduces MP by 1. *Activates once per turn. |
Susano-o A | Panel 3 | +25% to Phys damage. Activates the following Chain Effect at the start of the enemy turn: Inflicts Phys damage (Physical, Power: 50) to all enemies, and decreases hit enemies' MP by 1. |
Zodd | Panel 4 | +30% to Max HP. Activates the following Chain Effect when the one with this skill receives a Physical attack: Inflicts Phys damage (Physical, Power: 80) with Bulwark Pierce to a single enemy, causing them to lose 1 MP and self recovers 100% of the damage dealt. |
