MP Steal aka MP Drain is when a demon gains MP from an enemy's MP reserve.

Mechanics
If a skill has an MP stealing effect, the target will lose a set amount of MP, and then the caster will recover the amount of MP that the target lost.
If multiple enemies have their MP stolen, then the caster recovers the total MP lost across all targets. For example:
- When Alice A uses her skill Give me Jewels, which targets all enemies and steals 2 MP, then each enemy will lose 2 MP and Alice will regain as many MP as the total lost by all the targets, going up to 8 MP recovered in front of the common 4-enemies formation.
MP steal is always a secondary effect of a skill, not the primary. Even when it is clearly intended to be the primary effect, it will be dependent on some small other effect to take place, generally Fractional Damage since it cannot be countered, like with the aforementioned Give me Jewels or with the skill Fox Sin of Greed.
But this means that if the primary skill fails, the MP steal cannot take place. Some examples to illustrate:
- If Ban targets an enemy with Physical Hunt but the attack misses, there will be no MP (or HP) stealing.
- If the Chain Effect of Mother Harlot's Panel 4 triggers, but all the enemy demons are under the effect of Repel Magic (Almighty), the attack on all the opponents will be reflected on her but the MP drain won't activate at all because the attack didn't connect properly.
- If Camael's One Who Sees God Chain Effect activates, which normally would drain 1 MP from each enemy, but the enemy team is comprised of 1 demon who Drains Light, 1 who Repels Light, and 2 who are neutral including one with an anti-pierce passive like Femto or Yggdrasil, the ensuing attack would be able to hit at best the 2 neutral demons who would then lose 1 MP, but the demon that repelled and the one that drained the attack won't have their MP stolen, which means that Camael will only recover 2 MP in total.
When an MP stealing skill is used and the caster successfully recovers some MP, this is considered a Recover MP effect, so skills like Sun God's Majesty of Adramelech will activate in response.
Interaction with the MP reserve of targets
MP stealing skills will try to steal the exact number of MP indicated in their description. However, it is important to note that the actual amount of MP stolen by a skill with these properties depends on the current amount of MP that the target has when the skill is used. This is not a problem in PVE, where the demons have unlimited MP, but it plays a role in PVP where enemy demons use their regular MP reserve.
For instance, when a target has 0 MP, they won't be able to lose any MP from such skills, and the caster won't recover any either.
Similarly, if the target has less MP than a skill intends to steal, they will lose as much MP as possible, and the caster will recover this amount. For example:
- If Alice A's Give me Jewels activates in front of four enemies who each have 1 MP, then each of them will lose the only MP they have left after which Alice will recover 4 MP total, instead of the 8 she would have had if her opponents had more.
