Overview
This is an alphabetical list of terms used in Dx2 or the community with a brief explanation.
Glossary
- Ailment: states a demon may be inflicted with by Skills (Bind/Bound, Charmed, Cursed, Dead, Muted, Poisoned, Weakened).
- Anti Pierce: a team consisting of either Alilat, Rama, Atavaka or Demiurge, and corresponding demons that utilize Repel Pierce, Drain Pierce, War Aid or False God & Supreme Creator respectively. Used to counter Pierce from the enemy team.
- AoE: "Area of Effect," a Skill that does Damage to multiple (random) or all enemies.
- Bait: Refers to time-limited gacha banners that are released a few weeks before a big event such as Dx2 collaborations, Anniversaries, etc. to get players to waste their gems before the anticipated banner and require them to spend money on buying gems to not miss out on said banner. Also refers to banners that feature demons that are not viable in PvE and/or PvP.
- Battle: Dx2 fights, may be composed of one or more Waves of demons, usually up to three in PvE and one in PvP.
- BB: Barrier Break.
- BF: Black Frost.
- BoS: "Brands of Sin," quest areas where Brands can be harvested, often also referred to as "BoS10" or "BoS11", indicating the level of the area.
- Brand: equipments worn by demons that enhance their Stats and may activate special effects, like auto-casting Barrier at the beginning of a Wave, regardless of the demon wearing it having that Skill.
- BT: Battle Tower.
- Charge: a state a Demon may enter, using a Skill, which increases the next Phys attack damage by 125%. Entering a Charge state cancels Concentrate.
- Concentrate: a state a Demon may enter, using a Skill, which increases the next Magical attack damage by 125%. Entering a Concentrate state cancels Charge.
- Crit: a physical attack has a chance to yield a Critical hit, which not only does more damage to the target, but also spends half Press Turn.
- DfM/D4M: Die for Me!, a skill used by Alice.
- Element: demon's affinity to Physical (Phys), Fire, Ice, Electrical (Elec), Light and Dark attacks, can be neutral (-), Weak (Wk), Resistant (Rs), Null (Nu), Repel (Rp) or Drain (Dr).
- Five Elements: a Skill that
- Fusion: merging (fusing) two or more demons to create a new one. It's one of the most iconic features of Megami Tensei. In Dx2, it becomes less important over time, as gacha demons have, usually, a lot more powerful skills.
- Gacha: 1. summoned demons (as opposed of fused demons), usually of colored Archetypes, or Skill Genomes; 2. Demons/Skill Genomes which can only be obtained by summoning; 3. the act of summoning demons or Skill Genomes, trying to get that very needed, very desired one that will be the best for your almost perfect party, at least until SEGA/Atlus introduces another one that thoroughly nullifies it two weeks later... Gatcha!
- Gen Masa: Referring to Masakado or General Masakado to differentiate between his 2 forms.
- Hell Gongen: A team consisting of Hell Biker and Zaou-Gongen, used to ignore Phys NDR. Further Information: Hell Gongen
- Herokado: Referring to Masakado A or Hero Masakado to differentiate between his 2 forms.
- HL: Huang Long.
- Macca: game's money, one of the main currencies, the others being Magnetite, Karma, Gems, Spirits, Spirit Shards, Summoning Files, Tomes, Parchments, Hell Buns, Tamas... Are them enough?
- Mag: 1. Magnetite; 2. Magical Skill, effect or attack.
- Mama: Mother Harlot.
- Megami Tensei: the short version of the original Japanese game's name, デジタル・デビル物語 女神転生 (DIGITAL DEVIL Monogatari Megami Tensei = Digital Devil Story Goddess Reincarnation), released in 1986/1987, also known as DDS or メガテン ("Megaten").
- Meta: Metatron OR also used as a way to describe the common tactics used in PvP.
- Might: a state a demon may enter, using some skill (e.g., Red Zone), which will grant it a Critical effect on its next Physical attack.
- Miss: a Physical attack has a chance to miss the target(s), which not only fails to cause any damage to the missed target(s), but also wastes another Press Turn.
- Mortal: Instant Kill Skill, like Die for Me!, Occult Flash, God's Bow (50% chance of Kill) and Do Me A Favor/Be My Friend (only affects Cursed demons).
- NDR: refers to an attack of an Element that gets Nullified, Drained or Repelled, which not only causes no damage to the demon, but also costs an extra Press Turn to the attacker.
- Nuker: a demon that uses a (or multiple) ST Skill(s).
- Nergbog: a team consisting of Nergal and Chernobog, used to chain Plague of Babylon and Fog of Death.
- Press Turn: Dx2 fights are turn based, with the number of allowed actions per turn counted by the so-called Press Turns.
- PvE: Player vs. Environment, that is, fight between the player and the game's AI.
- PvP: Player vs. Player fight.
- Skill Genome: item used to transfer a Skill to a demon or upgrade it. See Skill Transfer.
- ST: Single Target, a Skill that does damage to a single enemy.
- St: abbreviation of "Strong," as opposed to "Wk" (Weak), appears in the demon filter options.
- Sweeper: a demon that uses a (or multiple) AoE Skill(s), often with great damage to quickly kill the enemy team.
- T1: "Turn-1", the 1st turn of a Wave, or a Battle, depending on context.
- Tag Bros: (Also referred to as Jack Bros) Referring to the two demons that have the Tag Skill in the protector archetype, Jack Frost and Pyro Jack.
- Ubeelze/Uber Beelzebub: refers to Beelzebub☆, to differentiate it from the lower Rarity Beelzebub. Also Uber as in super strong or overpowered.
- Wave: each stage of a Battle. Some Skill effects may be triggered at the beginning or the end of a Wave, while others may only trigger once per Battle, usually right in the beginning of the first Wave.
- Weakness: an Element to which a demon is Weak against, not only does it receive more damage when hit by an attack of that type, but also grants the attacker a half Press Turn bonus.
- Xisters: refers to a team consisting of the Moirai Sisters (Clotho, Lachesis & Atropos) plus Xi Wangmu. At least 2 of the sisters + Xi Wangmu is needed to fulfil the "3 or more Femme/Lady Race" to activate the Sisters' passive skills.
- XWM: Xi Wangmu.
