Role Summary

Name Best Archetype(s) PVE PVP Democalypse
PVE PVP Offense Defense Prelim Boss
Skull Knight.jpg Skull Knight
Purple Teal Teal Purple 3 4 4 2 1
Pros
  • Demons die when they are killed by Sword of Actuation, unable to be revived. This lets him counter Nebiros, Xi Wangmu and Clotho revive strategies.
  • Sword of Actuation has a ridiculously low MP cost at max level (5 MP) - Even without Panels it can be cast Turn 1 with War Brands. Panel 2 further reduces it to 4 MP, allowing it to be cast regardless of brands or matchup.
  • Foe of Demons defensively buffs your team at the start of your opponent's turn, increasing your odds of surviving.
  • Repel Phys in Teal makes him a good partner for Demiurge and Atavaka.
Cons
  • Difficult to boost Sword of Actuation further due to it being Almighty Physical, especially in Purple where Master Assassin is already provided.
  • Requires a good team setup around him to truly shine.
  • Middling AGI makes him slightly awkward to fit in fast or slow teams.
  • Completely outclassed by Astaroth which is stronger, easier to get and better in everything: stats, base power, accuracy and built in crit rate not only for himself but for the entire team if paneled.
  • Completely killed off by Maria, a very popular demon in the meta, undoing his Anti-Revive, the only good thing about him. Oh how the mighty have fallen :(
Notes
  • Has AI issues when used on defense - AI will occasionally target demons with high HP instead of trying to finish off demons with Sword of Actuation. This can be circumvented by pairing him with sweepers like Hecate or Atavaka to soften everyone up, ensuring Sword of Actuation will kill whoever his AI targets. Auto-Rebellion also supposedly fixes this issue.
  • Limited-time Collaboration unit. Nobody knows if he will be rerun.
  • A big issue with this game is how collab units are near irrelevant for pvp or even pve. Barely any collab units are even remotely useful in today's meta which is infuriating considering how limited and hard to get they are. Almost all of them get outclassed by non-collab units that are way easier to get. Some of them like Meliodas, Ban, Berserker Guts and Griffith have their niches but require a lot of investment and a very specific team composition to get the most out of them. You'd think that just on the fact that they're limited time collab units, making them some of the best units in the game would be a priority but that isn't the case with this game.
  • To add something to the previous point, he introduced an interesting mechanic which was the revive ban. Back then, this new mechanic meant he dominated the meta and for once, a collab unit actually felt unique and different from base game units. This started fading away once revive ban was treated as a game mechanic and not a Skull Knight ability. Demons like Echidna, Tzitzimitl, Flauros Hallel and Lilith A released and they also had revive ban but even still, Skull Knight remained somewhat strong along with the previously mentioned demons. Once Maria released, Skull Knight completely died. Outside of the revive ban, he has nothing else useful to offer. Unlike him, the rest of the pre-Maria revive banning demons have plenty to offer outside of the revive ban. Echidna is a strong, tanky ice mage and is one of the best tanks right now, Tzitzimitl is a powerful dark, ailment, evasive unit that has her nieches even for pvp, Flauros Hallel is a powerful Light mage that also provides support to his team and Lilith A has very high crit rate, charm, accuracy and strong Dark Phys damage.

Archetypes

  • Purple: Master Assassin to boost Sword of Actuation's damage, also saves a skill transfer.
  • Teal: Repel Phys Makes him great in Repel teams.

Skill Transfers

Damage Boosters to ensure Sword of Actuation can kill to revive seal. Crit boosters are needed to boost SoA's damage further as Almighty damage is hard to increase. Accuracy can be used to hit dodge tanks.

Damage Boosters:

  • Master Assassin: highest ST damage modifier for SoA (only for not Purple).
  • Wicked Strike: Crit damage + crit rate modifier.
  • Death Blow: a huge damage modifier that pairs well if he has Crit rate modifiers.
  • Almighty Boost/Almighty Survivor: a blanket boost for SoA. Almighty Survivor adds an Endure. Very rare and hard to obtain.
  • Assassin: early game/budget option. Can be used to stack with Master Assassin.

Crit Boosters:

  • Auto-Rebellion: best option. Gives SK a T1 nuke with SoA to kill off problematic demons early before they become a problem. Only available as Gacha from Yellow Tokisada and Marici.
  • Wicked Strike: Crit damage + crit rate modifier.
  • Epitome of Carnage: enhances both Crit Rate and Phys damage.
  • Savage Glee: highest Crit Rate modifier for consistent crits. Beware of Crit Rate reduction from the likes of Epitome of Fortitude and Wild Instinct.
  • Bloody Glee: early game/budget option.

Accuracy Boosters:

  • Epitome of Aggression: Accuracy modifier + Ailment resistance.
  • Good Aim: early game/budget option.

Other/Misc. Skills:

  • Enduring Soul/+: adds survivability to him to keep revive sealing.
  • Speedster: boosts team Battle Speed if needed.

Brands

  • Stat priorities: Phys ATK%, Phys AC%, Speed%
  • War: boosts damage output.
  • Life: adds bulk.
  • Divine: allows him to spam SoA (every turn if P2)
  • Ward: protects him from ailments for 3 turns.
  • Aim: boosts accuracy.
  • Speed: boosts team Speed if needed.

Mitama

  1. STR (20): to boost damage output.

  4. LUK (10): increases his chances of landing attacks and crits.
