Overview

This is an alphabetical list of terms used in Dx2 or the community with a brief explanation.

Glossary

  • AoE: Area of Effect ; A Skill that does Damage to multiple or all enemies.
  • BoS: Brand of Sin ; often also used as "BoS10" or "BoS11", indicating the stage.
  • Fusion: merging (fusing) two or more demons to create a new one. It's one of the most iconic features of Megami Tensei. In Dx2, it becomes less important over time, as gacha demons have, usually, a lot more powerful skills.
  • Gacha: 1. summoned demons (as opposed of fused demons), usually of colored Archetypes; 2. the act of summoning demons, trying to get that very needed, very desired one that will be the best for your almost perfect party, at least until SEGA/Atlus introduces another one that thoroughly nullifies its skills two weeks later... Gatcha!
  • Megami Tensei: the short version of the original Japanese game's name, デジタル・デビル物語 女神転生 (DIGITAL DEVIL Monogatari Megami Tensei = Digital Devil Story Goddess Reincarnation), released in 1986/1987, also known as DDS. (Often abbreviated to: Megaten)
  • Meta: Metatron OR also used as a way to describe the common tactics used in PvP.
  • NDR: Referring to an element that gets Nulled, Drained or Repelled.
  • Nuker: A demon that uses a (or multiple) ST Skill(s).
  • PvE: Player vs. Environment
  • PvP: Player vs. Player
  • ST: Single Target ; A skill that does damage to a single enemy.
  • Sweeper: A demon that uses a (or multiple) AoE Skill(s), often with great damage to quickly kill the enemy team.
  • Tag Bros: (Also referred to as Jack Bros) Referring to the two demons that have the Tag Skill in the protector archetype, Jack Frost and Pyro Jack.
  • Herokado: Referring to Masakado A or Hero Masakado to differentiate between his 2 forms.
  • Gen Masa: Referring to Masakado or General Masakado to differentiate between his 2 forms.
  • Ubeelze/Uber Beelzebub: Referring to Beelzebub☆ to differentiate the 2 Beelzebubs of different Rarity. Also Uber as in super strong or overpowered.
  • BT: Battle Tower.
