Pros
  • Kongo Zaou is a powerful passive that grants Phys Pierce to all your demons under Rebellion. Hell Gongen is a team archetype based specifically around this ability.
  • Panel 3 grants team-wide Rebellion whenever he crits. This is very powerful for Physical-based Hero Masakado T1 teams, as it cranks up their damage to insane levels and guarantees virtually infinite crits.
  • Red gives him a cheap AOE attack in Herculean Strike.
  • While not common, he can work as a Fire Mage as he has passable Magic and Fire Amp in Purple.
  • Great set of Panels that provide additional damage, accuracy and team-wide Rebellion.
  • Panel 4 grants himself Charge and Rebellion when any party member scores a kill (once per turn), synergizing with Yoshitsune's panel 4 that has a similar effect. This could allow him to forego Auto-Rebellion in PvE, if the first kill happens quickly. It also makes God's Hand far more affordable at 5 MP, improving performance against single-targets.
Cons
  • Weak to Elec.
  • Middling AGI affects his Accuracy and Speed. Missing can be disastrous for a Masakado A team, as they aim to win on the very first turn.

You'll want Zaou to crit on his first hit in order to activate P3 to cast party-wide Icon Critical.png Rebellion. Accuracy boosters to patchup his lowish AGI. Phys Damage boosters to hit hard in Hell Gongen teams.

If using a Purple Purple build, transfer Fire Slash or Rending Fire if available. Damage boosters in this case should be for Fire instead of Phys.

Brands

  • Stat priorities: Phys ATK%, Phys AC%, Critical%,.
  • War: Boosts his damage. Especially important in Hell Gongen teams to dish out as much damage as possible. Allows his Herculean Strike to kill/weaken the adds during a boss fight, then boss killers like Yoshitsune.jpg Yoshitsune, Ose Hallel.jpg Ose Hallel, P3 Mara.jpg Mara, etc. can focus solely on the boss.
  • Aim: Boosts his shaky accuracy to ensure no Press Turns are wasted. Plus, if he misses then he cannot crit to activate P3.
  • Lead: Allows him to attack ASAP in the team to start his P3 crit loop so his teammates can take advantage of the Icon Critical.png Rebellion + Phys Pierce.

Mitama

  1. AGI (20): To boost his accuracy and team speed.
  2. STR (20): Boosts his Phys ATK and therefore, his Phys damage output.
  3. LUK (10): Increases his chances of landing crits and his chances of landing hits.

Wicked Strike + Savage Glee gives him the highest crit modifier possible to land crits to activate P3. Pair with demons like Kartikeya and Asura Lord to boost his crit rate even more. EOC or Bloody Glee can be used as a budget option as well.
