| Pros |
- Extremely tanky, with Tenebrous Light granting him 50% to max HP and 40% damage reduction. Paired with the fact Tenebrous Light also grants 20% damage reduction to all allies, it effectively means he gets 60% damage reduction unconditionally.
- Tenebrous Light also reduces the counts of Spirit Chains of Corrosion he receives by 2, which means that, no matter what, he will always be able to withstand most, if not all, physical attackers.
- He also nulls all ailments thanks to this skill, meaning that he can shut down any ailment shenanigans, such as ailment-based increase in damage taken from units like Hathor A and Tiamat A, by just existing.
- Tenebrous Light also allows him and his allies to hit extremely hard; it makes every enemy affected by Gloom receive 50% extra damage, as well as raising the cost of skills by 2 MP - which guarantees that any T1 team not ready for it won't be able to cast their skills under Gloom - and reducing their critical hit rate by 100% - which means it'll be extremely hard for them to land a critical attack, potentially losing them momentum - allowing him to naturally fit into almost every T2 comp.
- On top of that, the 50% to damage received is for both physical and magic damage and isn't tied to any element, meaning that he can be paired up with every demon seamlessly while still easily benefitting them. This also means that he isn't tied to T2 and can very easily be used to support T1 teams as well.
- Order Crest: Despair puts all enemies in a state of Super Gloom while also reducing their attack and defense, which leads to him casting Super Zenith on all his allies as a Chain Effect from Tenebrous Light, which translates well to his role as a midrange unit as it means he can support both T1 and T2 teams.
- Order Crest: Despair will trigger at the start of the first turn, meaning that he can guarantee that all enemies are in a state of Gloom so they can receive all the handicaps from Tenebrous Light. It will also trigger if he manages to hit a single weakness, so he can keep the Super Gloom pressure on all enemies during his own turn while also maintaining the Super Zenith on his own team, again as part of Tenebrous Light's Chain Effect.
- Ruinous Flames hits multiple times - first two times to all enemies and an additional two times to any enemies in a state of Gloom for a total of 350 BP - meaning that he's extremely effective at burning through the enemy team's endures. On top of that, the first hit also reduces every enemy's Dark affinity by 2, meaning that he can very easily open up a Dark weakness on his own to trigger Order Crest: Despair by himself.
- Ruinous Flames scales with Phys Def, which ties in spectacularly to his great bulk and reduction of two counts of Spirit Chains of Corrosion, allowing him to always hit the hardest he can. It also puts every enemy in a state of Super Gloom when used, which paired with his Order Crest: Despair, guarantees a full Gloom swing from a single use of it if he manages to hit a weakness with it.
- If the 50% damage received from Tenebrous Light wasn't enough, Ruinous Flames also reduces 3 counts of Malice from one enemy, guaranteeing he has an answer to every Vanitas even on his own.
- Thanks to Tenebrous Light, he does not consume a Press Turn icon the first two times he attacks every turn, which is an excellent way to counter demons with Bonus Turn denial, such as Inanna.
- Panel 2 allows him to start the battle with Concentrate, meaning that his first use of Ruinous Flames will hit extremely hard. Do note, however, that he has no way to regain Concentrate once he loses it.
- As for Awakening skills, Wisdom Survivor in yellow gives him a boost to his HP as well as an extra endure, while on purple he gets Magic Accele for 20% extra battle speed to complement his already high Agility. This ties in well with his role as a midrange unit, as he can easily alternate between T1 or T2 with these two skills.
- He's a great counter to Tora if outspeeding said demon, as his Super Gloom spam will negate Tora's benefits from Lightning Beast almost entirely.
- He's also a great ally to Tora thanks to the fact he can complement said demon by casting Super Zenith through Tenebrous Light.

| Cons |
- The Super Zenith casted by Tenebrous Light is a Chain Effect, meaning that he won't be able to cast it on his teammates if he goes against a faster Nuwa team due to the timing of her Spirit Chains of Suppression, and even if his own team is faster, he won't be able to cast Super Zenith as a result of using Ruinous Flames if the team he's up against has both Nuwa and Furykado. Both of these facts make it extremely hard to actually take advantage of the Super Zenith portion of Tenebrous Light.
- With Tora around, it might not be very beneficial to actually open up a weakness on every enemy indiscriminately, as he can very easily make Tora trigger his own Order Crest: Great Yokai in a single use of Ruinous Flames.
- He has no way to cast Super Gloom, or even regular Gloom, during the enemy's turn, meaning that it's very easy for a faster team to overwrite his start of battle Super Gloom during their turn, effectively negating most of Tenebrous Light's passive effects.
- His Concentrate effect in P2 will be wasted on the 50BP hit of his active.
- Hell Gaze in red is a terrible awaken skill given his low 90 Magic stat.
