Pros
  • Kongo Zaou is a powerful passive that grants Phys Pierce to all your demons under Rebellion. Hell Gongen is a team archetype based specifically around this ability.
  • Panel 3 grants team-wide Rebellion whenever he crits. This is very powerful for Physical-based Hero Masakado T1 teams, as it cranks up their damage to insane levels and guarantees virtually infinite crits.
  • Red gives him a cheap AOE attack in Herculean Strike.
  • While not common, he can work as a Fire Mage as he has passable Magic and Fire Amp in Purple.
  • Great set of Panels that provide additional damage, accuracy and team-wide Rebellion.

Cons
  • Weak to Elec.
  • Middling AGI affects his Accuracy and Speed. Missing can be disastrous for a Masakado A team, as they aim to win on the very first turn.
Notes
  • Auto-Rebellion is a very powerful transfer skill for him, as it will guarantee he can start the crit loop. Note that this will not work on Democalypse boss, though.
  • Fire Slash or Rending Fire are considerations for a Purple build, as they are physical Fire attacks that also have +30% crit chance, in exchange for a slight drop in power compared to Maragidyne. However, they're event-locked skill genomes and may be hard to obtain. Also note that ZG does not have Fire Pierce, and Kongo-Zaou's pierce effect only works on attacks with the Phys element.
  • Due to elemental Democalpyse bosses having 100% crit resist, Fire Slash is not going to crit without tons of crit support. Plus, if ZG can't crit, then he can't start his infinite Rebellion casts. Transferring Auto-Rebellion does not solve this problem, as it will not activate on the boss wave.
  • Prelim does not have crit resist, so using Rending Fire and/or Auto-Rebellion there for crits shouldn't be a problem.

Skill Transfers

You'll want Zaou to crit on his first hit in order to activate P3 to cast AOE Rebellion. Accuracy boosters to patchup his lowish AGI. Phys Damage boosters to hit hard in Hell Gongen teams.

Crit Boosters:

  • Auto-Rebellion: Best option as it is a guaranteed crit on the first hit, but only available via Yellow Tokisada and Yellow Marici as Gacha.
  • Wicked Strike: Crit damage + crit rate modifier.
  • Epitome of Carnage: Boosts both crit rate and Phys damage.
  • Savage Glee: More accessible than Auto-Rebellion, and grants the highest crit rate increase.
  • Bloody Glee: Early game/budget option

Accuracy Boosters:

  • Great Aim: Highest accuracy booster.
  • Epitome of Aggression: Boosts accuracy + has ailment resistance.
  • Good Aim: Early game/budget option.

Damage Boosters:

  • Phys Amp: Highest Phys damage modifier.
  • Wicked Strike: Crit damage + crit rate modifier.
  • Epitome of Carnage: Boosts Phys damage + Crit rate.
  • Phys Boost: Early game/budget option.

Brands

  • Stat priorities: Phys ATK%, Phys AC%, Critical%,.
  • War: Boosts his damage. Especially important in Hell Gongen teams to dish out as much damage as possible. Allows his Herculean Strike to kill/weaken the adds during a boss fight, then boss killers like Yoshitsune, Ose Hallel, P3 Mara, etc. can focus solely on the boss.
  • Aim: Boosts his shaky accuracy to ensure no Press Turns are wasted, plus if he misses, he cannot crit to activate P3.
  • Lead: Allows him to attack ASAP in the team to start his P3 crit loop so his teammates can take advantage of the Rebellion + Phys Pierce.

Mitama

  1. AGI (20): To boost his accuracy and team speed.
  2. STR (20): Boosts his Phys ATK and therefore, his Phys damage output.
  3. LUK (10): Increases his chances of landing crits and his chances of landing hits.
