A goddess of hunting and virginity appearing in Greek mythology, who is said to be a twin of the sun god Apollo. She bears the title "Goddess Who Rains Down Arrows" and is also recognized as a bringer of pestilence and death. Artemis fell in love with Orion, son of Poseidon, but Apollo, who was displeased by this, tricked Artemis into shooting Orion dead. It is said that, in order to comfort his daughter, Zeus raised Orion into the heavens and made him into a constellation.
