A monster that appears in Greek mythology, as well as one of the three Gorgons. Medusa has snakes for hair, skin covered with blue scales, golden wings on her back, and fangs in her mouth. It is said that those who look into her eyes will be turned to stone. Other descriptions envision her as having a normal and beautiful female form, save for her serpentine hair. She was beheaded by Perseus, who had the aid of the goddess Athena.
