Official Profile
One of the three Goddesses of Battle appearing in Celtic Mythology, whose name comes from the word for "plain." She is said to guide fighters into a spiral of fury and madness, and then feast upon the heads of those who fall in battle. "Bait for the Fruits of Macha's Tree" refers to a custom in which the heads of enemies would be used to adorn gates as an offering to her. In order to prevent the invasion of a foreign people, she fought against Balor of the Evil Eye, but was slain along with her husband Nuada.
