Official Profile
A goddess also known by the name Kishimojin, who is believed to watch over and protect children. Though originally a wicked demon that devoured children, she was struck with intense grief when the Buddha hid the youngest of her 500 children, who she adored most of all. After the Buddha taught her the pain of a parent who has lost their child, Hariti became a good deity and is said to have started eating pomegranates instead of children.
