Official Profile
The guardian god of the samurai who is also the most widely worshipped among Japan's various gods. According to the history of his head shrine, Usa Shrine in Oita Prefecture, Emperor Ojin is Hachiman. Some, however, believe Hachiman came from the influence of Taoism and Buddhism, muddying the truth of his identity. Once the guardian of the Minamoto clan, he has been worshipped as the guardian god of samurai since the Kamakura period.
